"We live in Ocean Park, Washington on the longest contiguous beach in the continental US. The ocean here can be really dangerous and it's important to know what's going on before venturing out. Our Vestaboard is programmed to display the tides, current weather and the forecast every hour so that it's always available to glance at. The tide forecast is definitely necessary to see the best times to walk our dogs at low tides and also lets us know if there is any risk of the wind blowing us off the beach! I use my own Python scripts running on a Raspberry Pi locally, as well as Vestaboard+ for the content. We also use our board send messages to each other from our other home and to welcome our visitors to the beach. Our guests are immediately drawn to it as it announces itself, when it comes to life, changing content. That is usually the first time it gets recognized. I love that Vestaboard is a beautiful piece of art in our house, has great practical use, and whenever it changes content, listening to it and watching it in anticipation has made it a great, central piece! Our home has a lot of windows and the Vestaboard is mounted in between them when looking out to the beach, in a way it has become a new window to our world."
